Objective Eye-Hand Assessments
„I believe if we can help younger hitters understand the relationship between eyes, brain, and swing, we can alter the trajectory of skill acquisition so much faster.“

It not just swings. It's just not. So Lately, I have been taking the Right Eye visual/cognitive assessment data and comparing it to the Diamond Kinetics swing data and coming up with my own system of understanding why some hitters succeed at higher levels and others will not. Our goal is to change that for those who we can.
Over the summer we were able to do cross-metric comparison with 2 pro softball teams and some USA players. This helped us to get some baselines of what the best hitters in the world are doing visually, cognitively, and of course in their swings. We found that the pro women were just as good and even better than the men. This did not come to a surprise to me since vision and cognition are not based on brute-strength.
I believe if we can help younger hitters understand the relationship between eyes, brain, and swing, we can alter the trajectory of skill acquisition so much faster.
For example, if we take a simple power metric from Diamond Kinetics SwingTracker such as Max Acceleration (Maximum Acceleration captures how quickly a batter speeds up their swing from start until impact.) And then we look at the brain processing speed of the same hitter, we know how each metric affects one another.
If we improve one, it enhances the other. If both metrics can improve, then we know we have someone who can actually compete at the highest level. As the game speeds up, these metrics mean more to us in player development. Thus we wouldn't have to guess which training methods are the best match for each player.
Obviously there are other factors that determine high-level success. But when I looked those pro athletes and the numbers they were putting up on the RightEye Sport Vision EyeQ, I was able to prove that I have been right for so many years. Right in knowing and understanding that the things we don't see or the things that are happening under the hood are what is truly driving high-level success. In my book, SWAG 101, published in 2012, I made reference to "Invisible Mechanics." These are the Invisible Mechanics.
